Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.28 g, 7 h), Rome, circa 140. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. TR POT / COS III She-wolf standing right within cave, suckling Romulus and Remus. BMC 245. Cohen 914. RIC 95. A nicely toned example. Some marks, otherwise, nearly very fine.

Neussel, Peus 420, 1 November 2017, 307 (with original dealer's and collector's ticket), previously acquired from Münzen & Medaillen AG (with original dealer's ticket) and said to be from the collection of W. Niggeler (not in the Niggeler catalogue of 1967).
